Jack Peart of SCSU has been selected to play for Team USA in the IIHF World Junior Championships.

Peart, a 19-year-old defenceman from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is one of the team's eight defensemen. Last season, all eight defensemen—Sean Behrens of Denver, Brock Faber of Minnesota, Luke Hughes of Michigan, Wyatt Kaiser of Minnesota Duluth, Tyler Kleven of North Dakota, Ian Moore of Harvard, and Jacob Truscott—played collegiate hockey (Michigan). Peart is now listed as 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, up from 175 pounds during the previous campaign. Peart played in 32 games as a freshman and recorded 15 assists, 17 points, 24 penalty minutes, 22 blocked shots, and a plus-3 rating. Last season, St. Cloud State had an overall record of 18-15-4 and qualified for the NCAA Division I playoffs.

Peart was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the second round (54th overall) at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

The World Junior Championships will be place in Edmonton, Alberta, from August 9 to 20. At nine o'clock, Team USA meets Germany in the opening match of the preliminary round. Monday, August 7 (NHL Network).

Team USA will play three more preliminary round matches against Switzerland (9 p.m. on August 11), Austria (1 p.m. on August 13), and Sweden (9 p.m. Aug. 14). The quarterfinals, which will take place on August 17, will include the top eight teams. On August 19, there will be semifinals (3 p.m. and 7 p.m.). On August 20, the bronze medal game will be played at 4 p.m. and the gold medal game will start at 7 p.m. NHL Network will broadcast every game.
